More Allergy Stuff

I'm still taking Allegra after having abandoned Claritin, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything for me either. Benadryl still works best for knocking down allergy symptoms, but it makes me lethargic, groggy and is not the sort of medicine one can take every day.

I've also got an air filter up here in the room, which helps a little if I'm around it for long stretches at a time.

My latest attempt is a purchase of local honey. The idea is that the presence of local pollens in the honey works in similar ways to an allergy shot. I'm skeptical, as some studies show that this works no better than a placebo, but in the meanwhile, the honey is the best I've ever tasted and it's hard not to just eat it by the spoonful.

And speaking of allergy shots, the one time I got one, it seemed to help a lot, but then I had to change doctors and the new doctor said that allergy shots had long-term health consequences and by the way, Claritin was practically guaranteed to work. That was eight years of misery ago.

Thankfully, fall is coming and the end of the pollen season. That leaves me with only dog dander, dust mites, and mold to add to my allergy load. Yay!

Try the Zyrtec. You need to use it a day or two in a row before you really start noticing it, but if'n you use it every day, it works swell. (For me at least. I was able to hang out with my friend's cat.)
